Best Budget Hard Anodized Cookware Set – Rachael Ray 10-Pc Set
The Rachael Ray 10-piece hard anodized cookware set is really a good hard anodized cookware set that is affordable for most. This is a complete cookware set that comes with 2 saucepans, a stockpot, a saute pan and a nonstick lined french skillet.
Before I go any further, I have to say the glass lids are really an added advantage for this set. I could see my food cooking without even removing the lids and this helped keep the internal temperature constant so my braises and stews turned out spectacularly. The meat from these dishes were so soft that they were literally dropping off the bone.
Frying was a breeze too thanks to the non stick linings on all the cookware. The pieces of cookware had a little weight to it. This made the pieces sit firmly on my cooktop without fidgeting around much.
All of these cookware are also oven safe up to 350 degrees so you’ll have no trouble transferring them from cooktop to oven. This is a really versatile hard anodized cookware set and one of the best cookware sets for the price.
Best Hard Anodized Cookware Set – Calphalon Commercial 13-Pc Set
Other than Rachael Ray, Calphalon is a well known brand in the cookware world and their products are nothing short of extraordinary. After using this Calphalon Commercial hard anodized cookware set, I had trouble going back to my regular non stick cookware.
I absolutely love riveted handles on all my cookware because these handles tend to last a lot longer without me even needing to tighten them up.
Other than having sturdy handles, this 13-piece set really has a lot to offer. The cooking surface is hardened and truly non stick. What’s better than having a non stick cooking surface that is easy to clean and yet scratch-proof? Metal utensils can be used on these pots and pans.
The lids that come with the cookware are amazing. Thanks to their domed shape, all moisture that evaporates during the heating process is returned to the cuisine so your food doesn’t dry up.
When you preheat the cookware before cooking on its surface, no pieces of food stick to the base so you’d have something very close to nonstick cookware which is the main reason I was so impressed with this set.

Why Use Hard Anodized Cookware
I was quite intrigued when I first heard about hard anodized cookware. Just like aluminium cookware, hard anodized cookware is rust proof and is an excellent conductor of heat. Thanks to these features, aluminium and hard anodized cookware make excellent tools for the kitchen.
Nevertheless, aluminium cookware is plagued with some rather apparent flaws. Aside from being fragile and reactive, aluminium cookware tend to warp at high heats.
Thankfully, hard anodized cookware has all the perks of aluminium cookware minus the flaws. Not only is hard anodized cookware capable of high heat cooking, it is also non-reactive and very much sturdier compared to aluminium cookware.
Fast Heating and Non Stick
The most important thing to know when it comes to hard anodized cookware is how it’s formed. Aluminum is placed into a chemical bath and an electric charge is flowed into the bath.
This thickens the oxide layer which makes the surface of hard anodized aluminum non-porous and stick resistant. This new layer will, however, add to the weight of the cookware.
The non-stick surface on hard anodized cookware also brings about some challenges. In order for the surface to be non-stick, the pan must be preheated just like stainless steel cookware. This will be something to get used to if you’ve never used hard anodized or stainless steel before.
Hard anodized cookware isn’t dishwasher friendly so you have to hand wash your cookware if you plan to get any of these sets that I recommended.
